safety guide

Recently there has been a bacterial outbreak at several salons. Click here for the full article.  The recent outbreak is yet another example of what can happen when nail salons don't take the proper steps to ensure client health and well being.  DNNC is committed to both your safety and your well being.

At DNNC, we give our client's safety the highest priority.  We have a strict policy regarding cleanliness and sanitation.  The following steps are followed to ensure highest levels of safety.

  • Nail files are always sanitized
  • DNNC uses disposable foot tubs
  • Utensils are washed with warm soap and water, then soaked in antibacterial solution, and rinsed
  • All equipment and chairs are cleaned and sanitized after each use

On your next visit to a salon, look around and see if the salon is complying with the following health and safety rules:

  • Appearance (click here)
    • Is the overall appearance of the shop clean? Are the sinks dirty? Are the trash cans overflowing?
    • At the operators work station, are clean items stored separately from soiled ones? Are manicuring instruments stored in a clean place and not hanging on the side of a cup or jar?
    • Are soiled towels put in a covered receptacle?
  • Licensing (click here)
    • Is an establishment license posted in clear view in the reception area? Is it current? Is the "message to the consumer" poster displayed in the salon?
    • Are current operators licenses posted in public view at individual work stations? (Photocopies are not acceptable)
  • Health and Safety (click here)
    • Are the operators properly disinfecting their implements between clients?
    • Are items that cannot be disinfected, such as emery boards, cotton, orangewood sticks, nail buffers, etc., immediately thrown away after use on clients?
    • Are the operators using prohibited implements such as Credo blades, which are cheese grater-type metal scrapers used to remove calluses during pedicures.
